Read the title. It seems 500 megabyte patchs are becoming very common these days. I was downloading an update to Crysis Wars and it weighed in at 511 MB. Why is this so? I read what was in the patch, and it was very minor. Some balancing, some tweaks, and small new map. How on earth can that take up 511 megabytes? It's ridiculous! Maybe someone who works at Stardock or has experience in game development can help, or someone who just knows the answer.
Ever seen a game and just wanted to give it a try? Two games I tried and liked: Mount and Blade: This combat sim/RPG blows a lot of the major stuff away. Graphics aren't good at all, but the gameplay is. Amazing mod community. X3: Reunion: Was looking at this for a while and decided to try it. It was a great experience for me. Sucked up a lot of gameplay hours, but was still very enjoyable. The sequel, Terran Conflict, is also very good, but I haven't played it as much.
We all know what End User License Agreements (EULA) are. But why? Why do only PC Games have them? To me, it's like copy protection: a stupid idea that is put into PC games just because the publishers can do it. If you actually read the thing (which no one does), you can see that the publisher may be doing something other than giving you a game (malware, StarForce). Why? How come console games don't have EULAs on them? Why do PC gamers have to put up with this shit? I dare a developer/pub...
A recent declaration by the Florida Bar (the top lawyers and judges) says that Jack Thompson will not be allowed to practice law in Florida for the next 10 years . For those of you who don't know. Jack Thompson has been fighting to end video games ever since the Video Game Violence Hearings in 1994 that established the organization that families with gamers in them have a love/hate relationship with, the ESRB (Parents love, kids hate) Thompson has tried coun...
What genre of gaming do you prefer: Strategy, Shooter, or RPG? I personally like strategy games like Sins of a Solar Empire and Galciv2. Heck, I love shooters, but I usually like to use my brain then blow another person's out. I might play more shooters and RPGs soon, but I just dont have a good enough computer currently to play them. What is your opinion? What genre of gaming do you like?
