Ever seen a game and just wanted to give it a try?

Two games I tried and liked:

Mount and Blade: This combat sim/RPG blows a lot of the major stuff away. Graphics aren't good at all, but the gameplay is. Amazing mod community.

X3: Reunion: Was looking at this for a while and decided to try it. It was a great experience for me. Sucked up a lot of gameplay hours, but was still very enjoyable. The sequel, Terran Conflict, is also very good, but I haven't played it as much.

I gave Sins of a Solar Empire a try actually. I thought it looked cool but that it would just be another strategy game and, well, I was wrong. I love it. Best Strategy game I have ever played by far

I got Dark Messiah: Might and Magic off Steam and was pleasantly surprised, considering it's a B-Movie of video games.  I've gotten into a bad habit of using it as a benchmark price for valuing older games.

Same here. My friend actually got it first. When he first showed it to me, I thought "what the heck kind of name is that? They couldn't come up with a better one?" Then I played it, and totally changed my mind. I agree, the best Strategy game ever.

Machinarium.  Really a fun game

1. I gave "Jericho" a try. While it wasn't the most groundbreaking game out there (being a first person shooter) it did have a LOT of unique characteristics for a FPS. I have yet to see the same style of tactical combat replicated in any game.

2.Another game that I tried and really didn't expect to enjoy, but did, was Tribes: Vengence. This is one of the best shooters I have played, not because of the graphics(which i don't care much for anyway), the voice acting, or even the online multiplayer challenge, but because of the story and gameplay. The story constantly switches between different characters and time periods, leaving you to embrace this huge conflict and lore that takes place within the scope of hundreds of years. Then there is the gameplay, oh man. You have a personal jetback that can be used to actually fly. Hell, at one point in time, you get to play an android assassin that used his jetback and grappling hook to ninja his way around guards and obstacles, then take out a major character in the story. its pretty epic. FPS games are my least favorite, and I usually don't expect much, but Tribes: Vengence is a must play.

Yup, I remember seeing the box in stores for a while, wondering if I should give it a try. A couple months later I was tempted to read some reviews on it, and came across a glowing IGN review. So I checked to see if there was a demo, found it, downloaded it, and have been hooked ever since.

The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth was another one. I was sceptical if they could pull off a good LOTR RTS, and I was pleasently surprised at the result. And while this one probably won't be as popular, I bought Railraod Tycoon 3 as sort of an impulse buy, expecting only some train nostalgia. Instead I got a surprisingly fun sandbox almost simulation like economics game.

Recently I have tried a lot of games and not liked any of them - Dragon Age, Borderlands, Torchlight, etc.  But several months ago, I tried Dwarf Fortress, which I had been avoiding because I knew it would be a huge pain to learn the interface.  It is absolutely worth the effort - phenomenal game, and I think I stayed up until an all-time record 10am on the first "night" and was chronically sleep-deprived for weeks.  However, I don't suggest trying it just now, if you haven't already - a new version is expected in around a month with a huge swath of greatly anticipated improvements and additions.

The next game I may try is Supreme Commander.  I loved Total Annihilation, but I just can't figure out from reviews and player reports whether SupCom is better or worse, so I'll probably wait until the price drops a bit more.

Yes. Just today, from another thread.

Babylon 5: I've Found Her

http://ifhgame.ru/

Freeware, so it won't cost you anything. (unless you decide to contribute some $)

Real-world Newtonian physics, so you can get the real feel of piloting a spacecraft in the vacuum of space. No phony hairpin turns and the like. Every action requires an equal and opposite reaction.

Like Babylon 5? If so, you will love this game!

I'm going to have to say The Babylon Project was a game I tried and liked.  When I played it I hadn't watched a single second of Babylon 5, so it was all new to me.  However, I had heard good things about the Babylon 5 universe, and I liked the engine TBP uses (FS2_Open), so I decided to give it a try.  I downloaded it and played all three of the Fortune Hunters campaigns by Vidmaster, and then went and got every episode of Babylon 5 off the internet because his campaigns made B5 look so good.

Seconded. I loved that game.

Gmod was another one that I tried and love, Get a couple well known mods for it and all you need for hours of fun is an imagination (or a sense of humor).

Prototype actualy. I thought it was going to be a silly over the top 'angst' ridden power fantasy.

Jet Set Radio Future! lol I wonder if anyone played that. It came with the original xbox and it was awsome. It's so ludacris rollerblading while spraying grafiti and grinding on rollercoaster rides but its awsome lol. Also I just started playing the Settlers 6, its alright but nobody plays it online which makes it alot worse;but its alright.

Puzzle Quest - Imagine me liking a puzzle game - must be a good one then

Kings Bounty - Great and captivating game (also see the sequel Armoured Princess)

I use to play console games before but once I got my first PC I decided to give them a try. A couple of games I could remember that I had never heard of but decided to give a try?

Call of Duty 2 - My first FPS game. I was hooked bigtime. So bad, I was playing the game for 4 to 6 hours straight at times. Once I learned the online world of FPS, it was so much fun I almost lost my family to it. The addiction was too much at the time. I still love the COD series but not as addicted. LOL.

Star Trek Armada II - The single player was awesome, the instant play was even more fun. Never really got to try the multiplayer as it was hard t get it to work for some reason. Thanks to this game I decided to try Star Trek Bridge Command and Star Trek Elite Force II and loved both games though not as much as Armada II. Shame not all Star Trek titles I tried were as good.

I have been curious about Demigod and Sins of the Solar Empire. Maybe one of these days I'll take my chances and try them out. Never know, thats what demos are for.

Whatever you do (For the love of all things pure) get Supreme Commander Forged Alliance instead of the original, its that much better  Better yet get both in the Gold Edition
Oh and if you do attempt to play it then be warned it will make your PC go into slow motion if you play for longer than half an hour and playing online will result in you getting beaten for Months.
Just a little warning ^^

A game I tried and was surprised I liked was Metal Gear Solid 2. I didnt really like FPS game (and still dont rate them that high now) but I really did like this game. Especially for the story.

Tempted to try Sins myself but you should try Demigod. Its good and you can become a pretty competent online player within a week or two if you try
