What genre of gaming do you prefer: Strategy, Shooter, or RPG?

I personally like strategy games like Sins of a Solar Empire and Galciv2. Heck, I love shooters, but I usually like to use my brain then blow another person's out.   I might play more shooters and RPGs soon, but I just dont have a good enough computer currently to play them.

What is your opinion? What genre of gaming do you like?

Strategy titles are my favorite by far -- they easily make up at least 70% of my game collection. RPG's and combat sims (such as Klingon Academy and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron) are a distant 2nd and 3rd, and I don't really play much in the way of other genres.

Love em all. BTW, where does Worms world party fit into?

What's my favourite genre? Shmups! by a great distance, oh and for clarity I mean proper shmups, not FPS and the like as the last good FPS was Quake III Arena. Why? Firstly challenge, secondly challenge, and third because its one of the (Very)few forms of computer gaming left that still takes skill.

What genre do I have the most games from? Strategy by an equally huge distance. Why? I have no idea, it just turned out like that, which is not to say that I don't enjoy strategy games obviously. I think its probably got something to do with the other genres drying up or becoming crappy.

I play everything more or less. I enjoy everything from Sports to FPS to casual to rpg to all sorts of strategy games. Really, I just enjoy good games.

And if you want to get into rpgs, you don't need a cutting edge pc. Rpgs haven't been all that great in the past few years (well, a general lack of rpgs in general), but you should be able to play Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, which are fantastic rpgs.

RPGs for me. Sins was my first kick at the Strategy can, and it's made a very good impression, so I picked up Gal Civ 2 and got a deal on Supreme Commander, so I bought that as well. Haven't yet played the latter two.

Not a fan of FPS games, although I did make the mistake of buying BioShock (game was fun, the mistake was getting blindsided around by that ridiculous DRM on the game) and I got Far Cry free when I bought some hardware. I've not played Far Cry yet.

But RPGs are number one for me.

I'll say strategy too, then comes RPG. I'm crap play at CS 1.6, so shooters aren't for me. BTW, what category does the Monkey Island series fit into?

That would probably be advetnure, which then fits into RPG.

I like tactical shooters. I like using my brains when I'm blowing other people's brains out (or more importantly, helping my buddies do the same). Strategy is second, and occasionally RPGs or stock/big budget shooters for the story.

I miss space combat sims though... I used to love those a lot, but since Freespace 2, none of them have really stood out to me. Allegiance is what I'm playing now. It has a very nice blend of strategy/space combat. The learning curve is insane though, since it's all extremely team based and there isn't really any way to teach that (or the strategies) in a tutorial. Plus it's free

Strategy for the Pc and driving sims for the consoles.

Blowing crap up and shooting suckers in the face.

Strategy I only play occasionally.

Anything with some form of violence in it. Therefore I never got into the Sims.

X-Wing anyone?

RPG, with shooter if possible. I do enjoy some action, though. For instance, I'm all over the upcoming Chronicles of Doryen. Real-time roguelike.

RTS and FPS has always been my primary genres but RPGs got me for now.
I do prefer RTS and RPG above FPS though.
