What genre of gaming do you prefer: Strategy, Shooter, or RPG?

I personally like strategy games like Sins of a Solar Empire and Galciv2. Heck, I love shooters, but I usually like to use my brain then blow another person's out.   I might play more shooters and RPGs soon, but I just dont have a good enough computer currently to play them.

What is your opinion? What genre of gaming do you like?

I have favourites from many genres. Its more about memorable gameplay for me than the type of game.

e.g.

Racing: XG3
Adventure: Shadowman
Survival Horror: Resident Evil 4
Platform: Banjo Kazooie
Retro: Doom
FPS: Timesplitters 2.
Extreme Sports: SSX3
Humour: Conkers Bad Fur Day.
RTS: CnC3(TW)
RPG: Oblivion

I love them all. Just need to stay awake 24/7 to play them.

Over the years I've played every genre conceivable, but depending on the amount of free time and mood, my preferences are such:

1. TBS   For when I have the most free time available... delivers the most satisfaction in the long run than any other game genre, offering the greatest challenges and longevity, IMHO.

Current favourites: Galactic Civilizations II /DL/DA/TotA, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, Disciples II (but I think I most prefer the "4x" empire building games the most, such as the GalCiv series and others).

2. FPS   Short on free time, for when I just want to jump in and out and have fun... mostly for stress relief, although this category can be subdivded: pure action, tactical, rpg or in current trends of the genre, a blending of all three elements.

Current favourites: Counter-Strike: Source, Far Cry, Unreal Tournament.

3. RPG   Although there is a "role playing element" to most games, I guess I prefer the terms "class" or "character" development which involve some sort of skill upgrading or unlocking and a decision making process by the protagonist (but not always) affecting the path or outcome of the story.

Current favourites: Deus Ex, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, Fallout 2.

That's it for the most part.

My interest still leans heavily toward the 4x empire building category... best bang for the buck me thinks!

RPGs (good ones like Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum... can't remember more atm ) followed closely by RPGFPS such as Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines. FPSRPG (different to RPGFPS in that the FPS element comes first as opposed to roleplaying being centre stage) like System Shock and STALKER:SoC.

space combat flight sims and mech sims

RPGs and Turn based strategy games.

Some RTS, like Conquest Frontier Wars and Sup Com.  As long as the pace is not too deadly slow and put me to sleep.
