Why do we have new ones now? Kryo?
ahh ok. I see them now.
Wow now I can edit this after posting below it, Weird. the emoticon in this post has one large eye and one small one when viewed in the list and even after you put it in the reply box, but the eyes are the same size when it's posted to the thread.
Crap, no edit. the one I posted above looks a lot different in the list than it does posted is what prompted my original question.
I noticed that too.
The one large/one small is the "wtf" emote. The one that got posted in the reply is the "blank stare" emote.
Ha, I see. The code must have gotten mixed up, it's showing the blank stare for the o_0 code.
ok. I'm glad it's not just me . I wasn't sure about them at first, but I am coming around. Besides, I think extending the options for people to express their intent in an all text based format is a welcome addition.
So not only new smilies but a new quote feature...Which is no where near as good as what we had before?
And what gives witht he medals Kryo. Taking away our forum ranks is one thing but our medals????
How is the new quote inferior? The styles didn't get updated for the GC2 template granted, but that'll probably be sorted first thing Monday (not a complicated fix). Otherwise it's identical, plus it can now have the quote's author marked at your option.
The medals are probably an oversight like the missed styles. I'm sure they'll be back soon enough.
also in Firefox spell check dose not wrok any more
err like this.....if it works, this might bork the thread but since the whole forum has gone to hell in a handbasket it wont matter anyway...
LoL see what i mean...there was two quotes in the above post and an image..
Can anyone say....BORKED!!!!
The white-on-nearly-white quote boxes are nearly impossible for this "old man's" eyes to parse.
And I'm all for local democratic processes, but these new smilies would not have gotten my vote. We didn't have a say via galciv2.com, so I guess WC is the Stardock analog to Washington, DC and we're just a weird little county in a small state somewhere?
Well, WinCustomize is the highest-trafficked site Stardock has, as well as the one with a plethora of artists who could create new smiley sets, so yeah, you are just a weird little county.
Too bad, now I'm hoping people stop using htem, they're just too disruptive.
Well I hope all the effort the webteam is putting in is improving some of the other Stardock sites, because each update just breaks more things on the GC2forums and doesn't fix the things that are still broke due to the previous updates.
We're having to use work-arounds in place of a search and viewing Metaverse profiles. The Metaverse Medals are broken in all browsers now(last update broke them for IE, but FF was ok). Ability to edit is totally random it seems. Recent posts updating hasn't worked right in six months. These, across the board, upgrades doesn't seem to mesh well with all the sites. I've been coming to this board for over two years and have seen plethora of changes, but I think the GC2 forums were in better working condition before all these "upgrades".
but since the whole forum has gone to hell in a handbasket it wont matter anywayAh here's the real rub. The slide of these forums from what they were to what they are now can be seen on an almost daily basis. But this is probably the wrong place to discuss this. I blame the cross posting involved with the sharing of the Impulse forum and this very Off Topic forum across sites with widely different interests. This has brought an influx of a few folks that add interest and otherwise seem to be decent folks. But more often than not have brought in a whole bunch of folks with which I have nothing in common and frankly have no desire to associate with. Yes it's obvious that the GalCiv2 site is in decline but this decline is being unnecessarily hastened by all this Impulse/OFT stuff. Probably it would be better if the old GalCiv2 folks would try and ignore the Impulse/OFT and stick just to GalCiv2 related threads. I know that's a difficult thing to ask because these two forums are like a train wreck that is both disgusting and impossible to ignore. I'm probably going to continue to ignore my own advice because it seems to me that the Impulse supporters can't bear the thought that not everyone on the planet loves Impulse. As long as there is at least one dissenter they feel compelled to stifle all source of criticism. I intend to be that dissenter until the point Brad sees fit to ban me for simply holding a contrary opinion. But given the current state of these forums being banned is probably a better fate than the long slow gradual death that appears to be inevitable. I will miss what we used to have though.
