In my opinion, American culture and society involving technology, games, and the other media is seriously screwed up. Look at all the stuff about it.

These days, its perfectly acceptable to show someone getting mutilated and a building being destroyed with untold numbers of innocent people dying, but when a boob is shown, or a sex scene, people heads freaking explode. I mean, why?

Why do people view sex as a bad thing in society? It's supposed to be the most natural thing ever to occur to people. Instead, it's viewed as a no-go subject by many people. To answer my own question, it has to do with conservative parents and religious people. Yet these same people let their kids play stuff such as God of War, Halo and Left 4 Dead.

There have been so many controversies surrounding sex. Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, GTA's Hot Coffe Mod, and now sex stuff in Assassin's Creed 2. People need to stop making a big deal about it. Politician exploit it to get popular, far-right parent groups use it to speak out and promote their 50's era values, and so on. These people just need to shut the fuck up. They are not helping anyone, in fact, they are helping the dev team make money by pointing the game out. The conservative society that they like is either going, gone, or never truely existed. The same goes for religious people. I'm not out to take down your God or church, I'm just saying that views aren't perfect

To sum up my point, sex shouldn't a big deal. It's part of life. If there was more sex in society, we probably won't have many problems involving it.

These are solely my opinions. Feel free to leave a comment.

This is a local issue only. The rest of the world doesn't have such a sheltered culture.

You are allowed to own a gun but not allowed to show a nipple. That just says it all...

25 years or so ago there was only one television channel in Norway (satelite tv was just starting). This tv-channel is financed by taxes and still exist (NRK). They had, and still have childrens tv at 1800 every evening of the week.

They made a show for children called Kroppen Vår (Our body). It basically thaught us kids everything and showed everything. The guy leading the show ran about with "sperm cells" which he lost all over the floor before reaching the egg with a final lucky one. It was hilarious. We also got to see full frontal nudity of both sexes at all ages.

You know what? We still grew up to become pretty normal adults.

There is a big cultural difference here.

Some people are having issues viewing that page. The title shows, but then the page just cuts off.

Another reason why European society is a bit better than America's. The U.S. isn't the only the only culture squeamish about sex. Two worlds: Muslim world. But let's get back on topic.

It is at it's worst in america.

It is at it's worst in america.

Well, its the worst of the developed countries. Other countries have issues. In Germany there are issues about blood, and in Japan they don't like excessive death.

Tell that to Australia.

Japan doesn't like excessive death? I guess their suicide themed movies would be kind of like a fetish for the Japanese Movie Industry ... they want to make such movies cause they are the most controversial possible.

Because experimentation with sexuality before reaching a level of maturity high enough to deal with it properly is the cause of a great many problems currently in the world. Murder, at least, is shunned widely enough that inmature audiences don't tend to imitate it nearly as much, and the same goes for "politically-incorrect" forms of speech such as nazism, so widely feared throughout Europe.

Personally I don't like censorship of any kind, and I'm a strong atheist so its clearly not my "religious values" speaking, but if there *must* be any kind of censorship, I think that over sexuality is the one that's the least stupid of them.

It seems like every new RPG has some sort of sexual content in it. While I guess its kind of nice, and funny, it really holds no bearing to the story, and seems to be in place for those who emotionally attach themselves to their RPG characters (or something). I don't mind the sex, but I think its interesting how its become more and more prevalent.

It started with nude mods, and has turned into plot-integrated possibilities for sleeping with 1) your party members and 2) prostitutes of various kinds. Witcher and Dragon Age are the two most prominently on my mind ... they seem so similar to each other too, I haven't played much of the witcher, but both have to do *Spoiler* with taking some sort of dark taint (blood = part of alchemy) in order to become something "more" than human in order to fight the big bads. The only real difference is which big bad they fight, and how they get their along the way.

Anyways, I think it was kind of fun to "collect cards" in the Witcher, where-as in Dragon Age there was less nudity yet it was more obviously "sex" ... i dunno, I preferred the Witcher method, as I don't like to see awkwardly rendered "underwear" versions of my party members running around, and would rather see the artistic cards depicted by the Witcher.

In any case, Dragon Age might of accomplished this the best, because their "sex" didn't detract from the story any, where-as the Witcher might turn it into distraction or a "side-quest" ... yes their were side-quests which resulted in little more benefit than getting laid. Hilarious I know. I prefer the Dragon Age method where its much more difficult to attain "unless your at a brothel" and it doesn't become a quest in of itself, its just what happens happens, and then on your way to the next quest.

Witchers are actually mutated and granted super human reflexes/speed and all that jazz. Wardens drink the taint and can hear darkspawn after some time...oh yeah they die in about 30 years from it as well.

America= nudety of woman is bad, sexuality of woman is bad

Show a woman with her shirt off and the damn world has to stop spinning.

Do the same with a male and no one gives a damn.

Show  a woman eating a popsicle and it has to be sexual or you are a pervert

Show a man and no one cares.

And it goes on.

Really? Name 10 rpgs like that that isn't oblivion.

on Nov 14, 2009

I cannot name 10 rpgs, I just said that I only noticed it in Witcher and Dragon Age. Jrpgs, Final Fantasy games, Tactics RPGs, none of those have it. Im talking about "giant blockbuster" type of PC rpg.

Also, oblivion has NO sexual content that I can think of ... just a couple of nude mods. honestly I don't consider "nude mods", or rather having people naturally naked without their armor, and incorporating sex into the story, as being the same. I don't care wether a person is completely naked under their armor or not, its kind-of silly for them not to be, but I can understand how it makes things easier for the publisher, or ratings. Incorporating sex into the storyline, however, is something rather prevalent in the last two RPGs I've played, namely Witcher and Dragon Age. I suppose it hadn't really been incorporated other RPGs i've played in the past, so I suppose its just coincidence.

Morrowind and Oblivion, besides having various nude-mods, in my mind have nothing to do with sex, least of all integrated into some interactive fashion.

Final Fantasy games,

What final fantasy games have plot intergrated possibilities to sleep with your partner?
