This is a list of reasons why America is disliked in the world. I'm not trying to be overly political; I'm just making a point. That said, don't over react or start a flame war. And to those that think I'm singling out the U.S., just look at the title. If I put whats wrong with the world and then talk about the U.S. then your argument would justfied.

21 Reasons Why the World Hates America

1.       We’re a big country.

2.       We eat too much food and are the fattest country in the world.

3.       We pollute the world.

4.       We drive the biggest cars (which pollute).

5.       Our society is torn between conservatism and liberalism, with people refusing to change society even though it needs to in order to keep up with the world.

6.       We guzzle oil.

7.       We prop up dictatorships that do things that go against American morals.

8.       Our government does things that go against American morals.

9.       We’re a snotty, rude, and stuck up society that thinks we’re better than everyone else.

10.   We have foreign policy that still thinks that we are in the Cold War

11.   We act like we are still a superpower.

12.   We tell other countries what to do, using our military to back it.

13.   We put restrictions on things, such as weed and the drinking limit, which drives people to break those laws. We then refuse to change these restrictions, even though it would lower crime.

14.   We are a crime ridden society, with some of the worst violence and breaking of laws in any developed country.

15.   Things that seem natural, such as love and sex, are made taboo subjects by idiotic parents.

16.   When something bad happens, Americans overreact to the extreme, making something that was a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 look like a 20.

17.   Many people are racist and stereotype people.

18.   We claim to be and open a welcoming country, where in reality, we routinely deport people and make society hostile to newcomers.

19.   We are a Christian majority country (a reason the Muslim world hates us)

20.   We support Israel and attack terrorist groups (ditto)

21.   We elected George W. Bush and his administration. ‘Nuff said.

This is kind of a joke people. Lighten up.

9.       We’re a snotty, rude, and stuck up society that thinks we’re better than everyone else.

I think you went a bit too west. The French and the British seem a heck of a lot more snotty, rude, and stuck up.

17.   Many people are racist and stereotype people.

18.   We claim to be and open a welcoming country, where in reality, we routinely deport people and make society hostile to newcomers.

And that's different from every other country how? Also, the world seems pretty hypocritical, stereotyping Americans and then saying were the bad guys.

Again, just about every country that recieves immigrants. Also, deportations, if I'm not mistaken, are mostly due to illegal immigration.

Feel free to start a "21 reasons why the world hates " thread

the world hates america because it is the 'popular kid at school' as it were.

it usually comes down to jeaslousy, although in some cases its genuine hate

as is stands, there isnt much to sasy about other countries because everyone is too focused on america.

however, if you really like, i can line up a bunch about a few Middle Eastern, European, and Asian Countries if you like.

Every country has its stupidities, we're all fucking human after all

The OP is simply retarded.

Muslims dont hate American because they Christians. Or else they would hate every other country that isnt completely muslim. Muslims hate America because they have declared a "war on terror" and have invaded muslim countries and supported movements such as the ones of Israel.

And now that Obama has started cleaning both those topics up, Muslims are starting to like America. Coincidence? I think not.

I think people hate America because they are very fat, and there a general idea that the general population is very stupid.

muslims dont hate america as much as we think. the average muslim just doesnt make all that much noise. its the radical fundamentalist muslims (who make up the terrorist groups) that hate america, and they are the ones we hear from the most. yes, there are legitimate differences in policy between muslim countries and america (most notably the israel/palestine situation) but they dont hate us.

and the pollution thing is interesting, actually. certainly, we should be doing much more to combat global warming, because we can. developing countries like china and india, on the other hand, pollute because they are developing. we cannot force them to limit pollution because it would unfairly check their economic growth. we cannot complain about the plight of peasants and sweatshop workers in these countries, and then prevent them from using the only solution to the problem (whether it is even a problem in the first place is a whole nother matter entirely).

that we are fat and stupid (most of us, anyway) i do not deny, and are legitimate reasons not to like someone. but some of the other points are invalid

The OP is simply retarded.

It seems you have proved that you are retarded yourself in your attempt to start a flame war.

You guys still use imperial I mean wtf?

Religion in politics

Agricultural subsidies

The occasional American with the "we are better than you" attitude

Those don't only apply to america I know.

"#4 - They pollute less than what most of the Chinese and Indians drive, again why single us out?"

Stupid stupid stupid, a much better question would be to compare the US to qatar, UAE etc. who have a higher emission rate per capita than the US, rather than the India and China whose emission rates are a fraction of the US's per capita emissions. The only fair and reasonable way to look at emissions is a per capita basis, otherwise its jsut racism.

please read my post. simple economics and human decency dictate say that we cannot dictate other countries' emissions, especially developing countries

This thread has so much retardation in it I wouldn't know where to begin, so I'll just broad brush it and say everyone that replies is a dumbass.

Yes, I know that includes me.

on Sep 07, 2009

What was the point of this again? Funny? Serious? And to think I actually thought reading Obama's msg to our kids in school tomorrow was boring and somewhat of a waste. Can someone tell me where the joke is?

BTW, this article would have been easier and shorter had you just made it the ! reason the rest of the world hates us:

1. Envy.

I guess I should have read your post first before I posted mine, now I am twice as dum for posting twice.

Why are blatantly idiotic threads like this even allowed?

on Sep 08, 2009

i must say i enjoyed it OP

you should change NO.9 to "our accent makes us sound like a snotty, rude, and stuck up society that thinks we’re better than everyone else."

ghurka
Why are blatantly idiotic threads like this even allowed?

because people, like you, are really really dumb.

humor me for a minute, and read a story i have. it is pertinent, so bear with me.
this summer, i was part of a student travel group in europe. for part of the trip, i was rooming with two other guys. one was a moderate conservative, and one was an extreme liberal. the discussion got around to politics, and the moderate tried to goad the liberal by espousing extremely conservative opinions, which he didnt actually believe in. the liberal exploded, saying things like, "you are so stupid," all republicans are stupid," "this country is fucked up," etc etc. he finally said, "you (he meant the conservative personally, as well as people like him) are the reason this country is so fucked up." i laughed out loud when he said that, because it finally dawned on me that it was people like him that were causing the problems in the country.

people dont listen to each other these days. they just talk and talk and talk, and nothing gets done. and ad hominem attacks (that is, indictments of the person making the point rather than the point itself) are the worst of it. if people listened to each other, and actually had real debates, we would be in a much better position. in fact, the whole world would be better off.

just calling something or someone retarded does not get us anywhere. quotes such as these,

ghurka
Why are blatantly idiotic threads like this even allowed?

are not constructive. they only contribute to the idiocy. some of the posts here were thoughtful responses, which can lead to thoughtful debates, and then perhaps we can teach and be taught new things. but the arrogance on display in this forum  causes many of the worlds problems.

[wow, my most coherent thought process yet. i usually struggle expressing my thoughts. and when i'm half-asleep! amazing, if i do say so myself]
